Pawns To Prosperous

*If you can't listen to anything else, please listen from 5m 53s – end…Pawns to Prosperous (Black History 2018)..28 Days to celebrate well over 28 decades of dark complexioned African descendants who ascended from indecent treatment to the President's seat/ February highly decorated with festivals/ Festivities crowd the calendar like kids crowd Christmas Trees…like crowds crowd clearance racks on Black Fridays/ like the backs of Blacks crowded the canvas of the Jesus…of Lubek/ The ship…that set sail from there to here, handed us off to serve a 300 year sentence in hell and amazingly we're still here to be heard from/ Labeled as minorities but handed majority of the hardships/ Forced into free labor and supposedly freed late…but the emancipation just introduced a new form of slavery/ As a war tactic Ab Lincoln said unlink'em, lett'em loose/ 13th Amendment said abolish slavery and involuntary servitude unless is due to imprisonment from criminal behavior/ So after the civil war we'll just criminalize their behavior then arrest them later/ a brilliant justification to re-enslave'em now the Constitution can't save'em/ D.W. Griffith decided to use cinema to highlight the “sin in us”/ Birth of a Nation birth the idea that black men were rapist….Raped us of our rights, deny me education, displace me then arrest me for vagrancy/ Use Redlining to draw the line between light and dark because darkies presence cause property depreciation/ Unjustly segregated but never separated from our innate greatness/ So now some of the greatest creations on the earth's face is accredited to the black race/ racist or not, these are facts you can't erase….So let's give reverence to Madam CJ Walker…walked her away right into the history books as America's 1st Woman self-made millionaire by helping millions grow their hair/ She built a fortune by building a brand of black hair products/ A product of the 1800hrs who grew thru the nappy roots of racism and raised a name for herself so let's raise praise in celebration of a Sister who circumvented the system and ascended to great heights/ Keeps your hands high for Elijah McCoy…1872 he created a self-oiling system, allowing trains to deploy without having to discontinue the mission to manually re-oil their engines/ Underachievers tried to achieve wealth by copying his achievement/ but consumer weren't falling for their ploy thus came the phrase "I want the real McCoy"…..Us "Coloreds", known to cause the most ruckus in the crayon box so they marked us with red markers but couldn't mark us off/ Our resilience simply remarkable/ There's a large margin between freedom marching and taking charge in office…Now we have black Entrepreneurs making billion dollar offers/ Went from blacks being owned to black owners/ Now If we want it, we can have it, the onus is on us/ Black Men we aint "boys" no more, we done grown up….And Black Women…congrats on being one of the strongest beings on planet Earth… You've been superheroes since the day He rose/ Beautiful and mystic as a black rose even when wearing head wraps and house robes/ Strong as an OX/ the term "Weak Black Woman" is an oxymoron so wheel off that moron that says you're too strong willed, he's just too weak/ You're the most impressive being on two feet/ There's nothing you hadn't undergone and you're still going…Men there's nothing you hadn't undergone and you're still going/ There's nothing we hadn't undergone and we're still going/ STILL GROWING/ Exceeded the expectations of an entire nation and we've only scratched the surface…still itching for more/ We're brighter than a set of police lights on a Minnesota night trailer a car with a driver who’s black with his kid in the back/ Wiser than MacGyver with a paper clip and a screwdriver/ So regardless to who lacks faith in you, never let the stigmas disable you/ know that you are fully capable of what any other is able to do so today as I share space with you, I ask that you allow this affirmation to apply to you….. You can stand on your feet or remain in your seat but whatever you decide please mentally repeat after me/ Say I will not kill my dreams before they are able to be born, my brainstorms will not become stillborn/ and I am fully informed that any dream I aborted before can still be born/ This is my season/ If I see it I can seize it/ I cease giving reasons why I can't/ From this point on, I rebuke excuses because I realize that they are useless/ and excuse me if I sound arrogant but I am beautiful, beauty filled, filled with beauty, however you want to word it, I deserve it/ I am superior to ignorance, stupidity will not supersede my ability to succeed/ My goals will not remain "goals" for long/ because prolonging and procrastination is no longer a part of me/ I manifest what I believe, I achieve what I put my mind to/ my ideas WILL become my reality/ I fight trials until I triumph/ Everything I touch will become topnotch and whoever don’t believe me…..just watch! © 2018Written By Obbie West
